Did you know that puppies should start learning and experiencing new things at a very early age, even before leaving their moms? The first 12 weeks of a puppy's life is referred to as a critical socialization period. The pup's experiences (or lack of) during this period can impact the rest of his or her life.

Don't grab your dog as he comes running to you. For some dogs, this could be intimidating or puzzling. If your dog is shy, bend in front of them with your back to them and give him goodies while you grab the collar. Never threaten to punish your dog! He will only learn from this that it is best to stay away from you since you are unpredictable. Even if your dog has been up to trouble, always give them a big treat when they come when called!
